How leading marketing teams decide where to invest

FAQ — Marketing Solutions

What can marketing teams use Demand Intelligence for?

Demand Intelligence helps marketing teams see where demand is growing, which consumer needs are gaining relevance, how brand position is changing and where competitors are gaining momentum.

This helps teams make better decisions about markets, positioning, messaging, campaigns and where to focus marketing investment.

How is Trendata different from keyword research tools?

Keyword tools are designed to analyse search activity. But not every signal represents demand.

Trendata looks at orientation behaviour in context — connecting signals across markets, products, consumer needs, brands and competitors to identify which patterns are meaningful, how they change over time and what they may indicate about underlying demand.

Keyword tools show search activity. Trendata determines what that activity means for demand.

How is Trendata different from Google Trends?

Google Trends shows how search interest changes within Google, relative to all Google searches.

Even if Trendata looked at Google Search alone, the calculation would already be different:

Google Trends
Demand signal ÷ all Google searches
Shows whether interest in a topic is rising or falling relative to total search activity on Google.
Trendata
Demand signal ÷ your relevant market
Shows whether demand is rising or falling relative to the total demand within the market you actually compete in.

Trendata also shows the underlying search volume, rather than only a normalised index.

And that is only the Search view. Trendata combines orientation behaviour across Search, Social and AI to understand how demand is moving more broadly.

So even when looking at the same Google Search behaviour, Trendata uses a different market reference. And beyond Search, it adds Social and AI to create a broader view of demand.

Could our search team build this themselves?

A skilled search team can analyse search data. The harder part is knowing which signals genuinely reflect demand, which are noise, and whether those conclusions hold consistently across markets, categories and time.

Trendata applies a repeatable methodology to identify meaningful behavioural patterns, track how they develop and validate which signals relate to commercial outcomes.

That creates a consistent view of demand that can support decisions beyond a one-off analysis.

The difference isn’t access to the data. It’s knowing which signals you can trust — and being able to stand behind the conclusion.

How is Demand Intelligence different from campaign and performance data?

Campaign and performance data shows how your marketing is performing.

Demand Intelligence looks outside your own channels to understand what is changing in the market around you — including demand, consumer needs, brand relevance and competitive movement.

Performance data measures execution. Demand Intelligence informs direction.

Can Trendata identify changing consumer needs?

Yes. Trendata analyses how people orient themselves around products, problems and needs to reveal which needs are becoming more or less relevant over time.

This helps marketing teams understand not only what people are interested in, but what is changing underneath that interest.

Can Trendata show where our brand is gaining or losing relevance?

Yes. Trendata tracks how demand around your brand develops relative to competitors, categories and markets.

This reveals where your brand is gaining momentum, where relative demand is weakening and which needs or product areas are becoming more important to your position.

Does Demand Intelligence replace market research or marketing analytics?

No. They answer different questions.

Market research helps understand attitudes and stated preferences. Marketing analytics measures the performance of your own activity. Demand Intelligence adds an outside-in behavioural view of how the wider market is moving.

Together, they provide a more complete basis for marketing decisions.
