Your Total Addressable Market (TAM) is the foundation of your analysis in Trendata. It represents the portion of the market that’s relevant to your business, covering both your current offerings and your future opportunities. By setting your TAM, you make sure that every insight you see is focused, precise, and actionable.

When defining your TAM, think beyond today. Include the products, categories, or services that align with your business goals—not just your current assortment, but also future opportunities. At the same time, exclude irrelevant or unsuitable market segments, such as brands or specifications that don’t fit your product line or target customers.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Go to your Profile Settings and click Edit TAM.

  2. Select up to five product categories you want to analyze. (If you select more than one, your choices apply across all categories.)

  3. Exclude irrelevant terms using two levels of filtering:

    • Topics (primary data, like product types).

    • Refinements (secondary data, like brands or specifications).
You can exclude an entire category, such as “Color,” or a specific term within it, like “Red.”

  4. Save your selections. Your defined TAM will now apply across all your analyses.

To activate it, don’t forget to switch on the TAM button at the top of your homepage. This ensures every liveboard only shows insights relevant to your market.

Pro tip: The market never stands still. Regularly review and update your TAM to keep it aligned with evolving opportunities.

Want to check what you’ve excluded? Simply add the Addressable Market filter in your liveboard and set it to False to view the filtered-out segments.

Your TAM keeps you focused on what matters most, empowering your team to make smarter, faster, and more relevant decisions.
